Day 2 – Together at Last

by Lissa

We are together at last in Kathmandu.  Had a delicious breakfast in Abu Dhabi with leechi nuts.  Got all Catherine’s bags on (she is a mule with all those bags).  Watched Horton Hears a Who on the plane.  After much paper filling out at the Nepal customs plus getting out Visa we are in this new world.

We went directly to the sacred Pashupathi Nath temple – full of smoke from burning trash (they burn lots of trash here) and lots of monkeys.

Then we watched several cremations – what an event – with heavy smoke by the river.  Then after that on the other side of the river there was the daily Arati puja by 3 priests with lots of whirling things on fire.  Very beautiful and aerobic – they were whirling for a really long time with heavy things – all on fire.

We were starving when we finally got to the Thai Restaurant for dinner.  Now we are at our hotel – Will is snoring.  I will wash off the smoke before joining him.
